An Open Letter To All Teenagers Out There

Dear teenagers, What I am about to tell you guys is a bitter pill to swallow but is inevitable. You cannot run from it or hide from it so it's better that, when it comes, you're ready to welcome it with open arms and when it leaves; you get up, open the door, and wave it a warm, friendly goodbye. A time is coming really soon when you'll have to worry about a billion of things. When you'll feel tired, and exhausted all the time with out even having a busy or hectic day. You'll see sun rising and setting from your bedroom window whilst you wish to not to leave your room, or even your house for a very, very long time. You'll witness people leaving you for good, and new ones coming, but they too, for until you're of any use to them. There will be breakups, and distances building among your happiest of relations. Soon you'll start to worry about some stupid research paper and assignments. You'll be ditched, cheated, manipulated, and used by humans;

A voice note in WhatsApp inbox; the voice sounds familiar, turns out that it's your editor asking you about when you're going to send the final draft of your book. You put your phone down and slide away your half eaten plate of biryani, something that you love and enjoy to eat, but you don't feel like eating anymore today. In silence, you hear the clock ticking, you see the light fading as the sun sets and you feel the darkness within is over powering you. Your brain isn't functioning and the heart urges you to play a sad song or two, maybe cry

Broken People

Broken people live on the edge, always ready to jump. They keep their eyes wide open continuously checking for warnings and alerts. They're the ones who cross check to see whether they can trust or not. They're just like scared kids who stay awake all night dreading monsters inside their bed. - Aasma Kamran
